Mikao Usui, Founder of reiki

The Usui precepts are meant to be used on a daily basis... to remind us to be as conscious as possible throughout our day, by letting go of worry (being in the future) and anger (being in the past), by learning to honor the wisdom of our elders and actively cultivating compassion and gratitude for our world, our relatives, our friends. Reiki is not a religion, instead it is a journey into self-healing and spiritual discovery.

These ideals remind us of our true spiritual nature, our highest Self from which we make the best choices. They are a reminder that all beings are precious, including ourselves.

If done faithfully and with awareness, you will begin to find that you spend less and less time holding onto negative emotions and more and more time in a state of peace, by being fully present in the moment.... Increasing our positive states of being result in a more harmonious, and healthier, body and mind.

In the morning and at night, with hands held in prayer, think this in your mind, chant this with your mouth. The Usui Reiki method to change your mind and body for the better.

Just for today:

I will not anger.

I will not worry.

I will respect my elders and teachers.

I will do my work honestly.

I will show love and gratitude to all living things.

Original version attributed to Usui sensei's teachings:

The secret of inviting happiness through many blessings;
The spiritual medicine for all illness.

Just for today:

Do not anger;

Do not worry.

Be humble.

Be honest in your work.

Be compassionate to yourself and others

Do gassho (hands folded together) every morning and evening; Keep in your mind and recite.

"I believe there exists One Supreme Being. The Absolute Infinite. A Dynamic Force that governs the world and universe. It is an unseen spiritual power that vibrates and all other powers fade into insignificance beside it. So therefore it is Absolute! I shall call it reiki...Being a universal force from the Great Divine Spirit, it belongs to all who seek and desire to learn the art of healing." ~Hawayo Takata.
